The Grapes of Wrath #13

Rose of Sharon, what kind of name is that? Is her name Rose or Sharon. I think Ma could not think which name she liked the best, so she names her both. But why wasn't it Sharon of Rose. I just think it is a crazy name. And is Sharon her middle name? Would she have a middle name? Say her middle name was Karen. Her name would be Rose of Sharon Karen Joad. That is one mouth full. Ma Joad does not even say her name correctly she calls her Rosasharon. That is cheating. If Ma wanted to name her something complicated then she should take the time to pronounce her name correctly. Rose of Sharon is married, or knocked up by a guy named Connie. That is also a girls name. There was some pretty weird names in this book, The Grapes of Wrath. Connie was a thinker. He liked to do engineering and stuff. He got Rose of Sharon pregnant. She was pregnant the whole way to California. She believed that they would be one small happt family together. That is when things toke a turn for the worst. Connie left Rose of Sharon on the trip to California. He did not want to go to California so he left his family. This was an incredible rude thing to do becasue that baby does not have a father. He was very selfish and left his family to fiend for themselves. That is why I do not think they were married. I do not think he could have left if he was married to her. But sad news, the baby was a stillborn. Rose of Sharon and he baby symbolized the end of a new begiging. the baby represented the chance for a new life in California and when it died all hope was lost. After the baby was dead, Rose of Sharon had some extra milk and the family came across a man and a boy who had not eaten. She breast fed the man back to health. That is so nasty. I understand that it is for emergencies, but it is still weird and awkard.
