Fahrenheit 451 #8

The book Fahrenheit 451 has a very good message to it. Guy Montag is a firefighter who starts fires. He must destroy all the books because it is illegal to read books. During the course of the novel Guy Montag is faced with a hard choice. His choice is to follow the crowd and keep doing what he is doing, or to stray away and stand for what is real. His wife, Mildred, discourages him from reading books and she does not support him in any way. As the book goes, Guy changes. He changes for the good. He realizes that reading is something magical and that everybody should enjoy it. It should not be destroyed. When he realizes this, he tries to get more books. As he does this, he draws more attention to himself and he is caught with the books. This leads him to run away and find a group of people that also read. When he arrives, they great him. They ask if he has any books and he says they are all in his mind. They wanted this because if it is in their mind they police can not prove they read books. The choice the Guy Montag made was a great choice on his behalf. He knows what is right for himself and for the United States, but they will not change. The nomads that Guy is with also want a change.
The biggest theme is that America is lazy. It is because people do not want to go to school, they do not want to read the news paper, and they do not want to follow written rules. They said that the school systems were starting to not be a popular and not many kids are going. This shows that reading is important in school. The government does not want the population to know what happened back in the old days and they are trying to hide it from the people. The theme of the novel is to get off your lazy butt and go do something instead of trying to avoid it by ruining it.
