In the novel Fahrenheit 451, Guy Montags job is to set books on fire. It is illegal to read books so they must all be destroyed. One day, Guy is on a run to destroy books. It was a hidden library in an attic. Usually the cops get rid of the people so the firefighters do not have to. The cops thought they got the old lady who lived there out, but she snuck back into the attic. The firefighters already had the kerosene spread all over. Guy saw that the old lady had a match in her hand and he sptinted away. The old lady set her house and herself on fire. This disturbed buy a lot. When he went home to tell his wife, Mildred, she did not care much. She did not listen. He was also informed that his neighbor, Clairsse was dead. She was killed by getting ran over by a car. Seeing the old lady kill herself the books made Guy Montag start to think about the books he is burning and he stole a book. He wants to quite his job because he is starting to question if what he does is right.
Guy Montag starts to collect books and he is trying to read them. He does not know what is going on during the books and he calls an old professor to help him explain. The professor, Faber is skeptical on if he should come, but Guy assures him that he is safe. One day, Mildred had some friends over. Guy decided that he would show off and read them a poem. They were is shock and scared what they should do. The next day Guy goes to work. Cheif Beatty calls him in his office and shows Guy a secret library he has with thousands of books. The cheif says it is on that he has these because he does not read them. The alarm went off and Montag got in the truck. He noticed that Beatty was driving and he never drives. He realizes that they were at his house.
